More Support For Stollery Hospital

The connections behind a successful fundraiser for Stollery Children's Hospital this past July have announced a holiday-themed charity event will take place this weekend.

Horseman Kelly Hoerdt told Trot Insider that Bedrock Training Centre, Nitza's Pizza, Northlands Park and the Alberta Standardbred Horse Association are teaming up for a fundraiser this Saturday, December 19 at Northlands Park's Colors Restaurant.

According to Hoerdt, there will be a complimentary buffet for 150 people in the grandstand, along with several raffle draws. All money raised will go to benefit the Stollery Children's Hospital.

In July, Hoerdt and Peter Giannakopolous of Nitza's Pizza organized the Inaugural Family Picnic in support of the children's hospital. More than 700 people made the trek to Bedrock Farms, just outside Beaumont, Alta. for free food, kids activities, a 50/50 draw and a silent auction with a wide assortment of NHL memorabilia, jog cart rides, horseback rides, a dunk tank, bouncy castle, balloon artist, face painting, build-your-own-kite station and sparkle tattoos. The proceeds from the silent auction, 50/50 draw and donations raised $11,500.
