The Canadian Derby Golf Tournament, presented by Century Mile Racetrack and Casino, is the annual fundraiser for the HRA Backstretch Foundation.

The Backstretch Foundation, established in 2012, supports the hardworking community behind the scenes at Alberta racetracks. Known as "The Backstretch," this area is where horses are housed and cared for by a dedicated team of grooms, drivers, exercise riders, jockeys, trainers and more.

The Foundation's mission is to advocate for and improve the quality of life for these essential workers.

The HRA Backstretch Foundation offers various services, including financial aid for the sick or injured, special awards and recognition, and hosting social events to foster a strong sense of community among the racing family.

The Derby Golf Tournament is an annual event held during Canadian Derby week and is an afternoon of golf and friendly competition followed by a BBQ dinner with entertainment, prizes and awards.

2024 - Alberta - Full Accreditation School

Registration Type and Cost

• Accreditation school for Harness and Flat racing - $725
• Cross-accreditation (currently accredited in Flat or Harness and looking to be accredited in the other) - $400
• Retakes (sitting in the section of the exam to be retaken) - $100

Registration
Please complete the online registration, found on the ROAP website, completely. For the full school, each registrant must submit two letters of reference/recommendation with their registration. The letters must come from someone in a regulatory, administrative or management role in the racing industry. Letters must be received prior to participation in the school. Continuing Education Participants do not need to provide any letters of reference.
