Racing Incident Update at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino

Incident update for Century Downs Racetrack and Casino in Rocky View County, Alberta , as of Monday , April 18, 2016, 11:00 AM MST.

On Sunday April 17, 2016, during the eighth race on the final tum, a chain reaction of horses occurred. As a result two drivers were injured and taken to hospital by ambulance. One horse
received a cut and unfortunately one horse was euthanized.

The three drivers affected by the incident received minor injuries. Two of the drivers were taken by ambulance to Foothills Hospital. Ryan Grundy was released from Foothills Hospital last night with a few scrapes and bruises. Ed Hensley was released from Foothills Hospital last night with three broken ribs and punctured lung. Brandon Campbell went to seek a medical exam after the conclusion of yesterday's races, where he received a clean bill of health and is feeling stiff and sore today.

As part of our standard safety practice at Century Downs Racetrack and casino, for all racing events two paramedics are directly on scene, with unobsrtucted racetrack access, in a fully
equipped ambulance. When an incident occurs the on-site EMS response time is less than one minute after the track has been cleared, to avoid any further injuries. For all racing events a
licensed equine veterinarian is on site and on radio. Century Downs Racetrack and Casino has seven security guards on site for all racing events to maintain crowd control.

Century Downs, located in Rocky View County, is serviced by Alberta Medical Services to respond to all emergency calls.
