Just over a year from graduating from Horse Racing Alberta’s Exercise Rider/Jockey program at Olds College, Brandon Duchaine is offered the trip of a lifetime. Brandon has been invited to represent Canada at the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship at the beautiful Tor Sluzewiec Racecourse in Warsaw Poland.

Brandon started his jockey career in Lethbridge Alberta under the care of Trainer Riley Rycroft. With only 30 career rides he already has 6 wins to date. This is only the beginning of his Apprentice Jockey career and is expected to have much success in front of him. Riley has stated “this kid has something special”.

There are some amazing opportunities for graduates of the Racetrack programs at Olds College. There are just 4 more races left for apprentices in 2015 – Kazan Tartarstan, Duindight Netherlands, Tarbes France, or San Paolo Brazil. We are hoping Canada gets invited once again!

Our jockeys who participate in any of the races in 2015 will have an all-expense paid trip to Abu Dhabi for the World Arabian Racing Conference November 5th – 9th. The winning jockeys from each race will participate in the World Finals in Abu Dhabi on November 8th at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian club. This year’s conference will also include training workshops for all of the jockeys led by world class instructors!

To watch and cheer on Brandon, go to http://torsluzewiec.pl/mobile_player.php to watch the race at 8:30 am Alberta time August 23rd. Good luck Brandon!
