Levi Morin has a vision of rekindling the fire of racing for his community and will be leading the celebrations at Northlands Park on June 21st. Levi is a graduate of the Olds College/Horse Racing Alberta Groom training program, and has been deeply engrained in the racing community ever since. Levi spent 2 years as a groom at Northlands Park and is now a successful Trainer with 2 wins and 2 seconds out of only 5 starters in 2014.
There are some big plans for the Aboriginal Day at Northlands Park for the fans of racing. There will be ten feature races with blankets presented to the horse owners honoring families of Enoch Cree Nation. The Enoch Chief Ron Morin will be on hand and dressed in full regalia in the winner’s circle.
There will be traditional aboriginal dancers and singers performing between the races for the crowd. The pony horses and riders will be dressed up for the afternoon with a contest for the pony that best depicts the theme of the day. A face painter will be on hand in the tarmac to paint the kids in traditional aboriginal design. Teepees will be set up to add to the festivities!
Looking for a great way to set off the Summer Solstice? Come out to Northlands Park on Saturday June 21st for a 1:00 post and bring your family and friends for a great day!
