The Rules Governing Horse Racing Alberta are AMENDED as follows:
Chapter 3: General Horse Racing Rules, Division 5 Race Day - After the Race
The following Rule 263 g is AMENDED to read:
Rule 263 g Blood sample readings
(1) A licensed *trainer having the care, custody, control or management of a *race horse, and any other person having care and custody of the *horse, violates these rules if a blood
(a) sample is taken from the horse, before or after a *race, showing a reading of plasma total carbon dioxide content of 36 or more millimoles per litre, or
(b) if the horse is treated with furosemide under the *EIPH Program, a reading of plasma total carbon dioxide content of 38 or more millimoles per litre.
(2) A violation under subsection (1) is prima facie evidence that the race horse has been administered a foreign substance or a prohibited substance for the purpose of altering the performance of the horse in violation of these rules.
Rule 263 g Blood sample readings previously stated:
(1) A licensed *trainer having the care, custody, control or management of a *race horse, and any other person having care and custody of the *horse, violates these rules if a blood
(a) sample is taken from the horse, before or after a *race, showing a reading of plasma total carbon dioxide content of 37 or more millimoles per litre, or
(b) if the horse is treated with furosemide under the *EIPH Program, a reading of plasma total carbon dioxide content of 39 or more millimoles per litre.
(2) A violation under subsection (1) is prima facie evidence that the race horse has been administered a foreign substance or a prohibited substance for the purpose of altering the performance of the horse in violation of these rules.
