Perry Winters was a familiar face in the jockey colony in Alberta and rode for over 25 years on the circuit. Staraway, Chilcoton Blaze, Rindanica, Candid Remark, Speedy Gone Sally, Wild Creek - the list of Stakes winners he rode is impressive. Perry says that the key to a race is "to get a horse to relax" but anyone who rode against him knew he was a master at getting to the outside and boxing other jockeys on the rail. He could time his ride with perfection to get to the wire first! Perry retired in the fall of 2012 with 19,983 starts and 2,984 wins.
