Wednesday features rarity...

In a rarity, at Northlands Park, there would be no multiple wining jockeys during last Wednesday's card. The evening feature would go to Brady's Tomboy, with Fernando Perez in the irons, for M & P Equipment, Met Set Consulting and Dale Saunders. Embankment would stay for second with Commander Sue nabbing third.

Other winners on the program included Sherunslike a Girl (Shannon Beauregard), Igotadeal (Ismael Mosqueira), Alexandra S (Amie Pooli), I'm Quick Indeed (Rico Walcott), Unsweetened (Nate Smith), Jack Attack (Raf Zenteno Jr.) and Siberian Cocktail (Desmond Bryan).
Total handle $182,048.

Canaveral Leader brings 'A' game in Sales Stakes

Canaveral Leader would be at her best to put away the heavy favourite, Tell Me Lies, in the $50K Filly Sales Stakes on Friday night. From a perfect stalking position jockey Shannon Beauregard would ask the daughter of Cape Canaveral for her best at the quarter pole and she would respond to coast home to an impressive 2 and 3/4 length win at 3-1. Conditioned by Ron Grieves - Canaveral Leader is owned by Central City Stable and Bar None Ranches Ltd.
Leading jockey Rico Walcott would ride for the triple on the night aboard the likes of Marry Me Vicky, Kool Atlantic and What's Up Doc.
'Fast Eddy' Martinez would ride two and win two on the evening... High Syn @ 10-1 and Palm Drive @ 19-1!   
Other winners were Timetobeasaint (Nate Smith), Secretly Elated (Ismael Mosqueira) and Madeira Park (Fernando Perez). 
Total handle $250,565.

Kingoftherockies still king of the castle

Kingoftherockies is the hottest horse in Alberta this season after winning the $50K Sales Stakes for boys on Saturday. From five outings the son of Cape Canaveral now has five wins and is the highest earner (*$67,582) in the province, thus far on the year, for the ownership group of Rod Cundy, Pinky and Bob MacDonald, Kevin Miller and R and M Stable.  
"He’s got a lot of confidence in himself," said trainer Pinky MacDonald following the win. "He thinks he’s the king and he’s sure close to it..."
Winning jockey Ismael 'The Mosquito' Mosqueira was very happy to get the call to ride Kingoftherockies on this day...
"I had a really nice and clear break out of the gate," said Mosqueira. "I got him to relax for a while, but for the last eighth pole he was just rocking!"
Riders Amie Pooli (Honey Candy and Seeyouonbroadway) and Rico Walcott (Keene On Demand and Senor Rojo) would each pilot a pair of winners on the day.
Other winners included Awesome Plan (Jorge Espitia), Gold Kid (Raf Zenteno Jr.), OK Tough Guy (Real Simard), Mr. Shadar (Eddy Martinez) and Top It UP (Kyle Carter).
Total handle $294,614.

Kyle Carter: Upset x 3 on Monday

Kyle Carter would be aboard for three wins on the Monday card at the Park - all in upset fashion. He'd take Race 1 on the day with Keep'nitcountry @ 9-1 and follow that up in Race 2 with Istanblue @ 6-1 - combining for a 'KC' Daily Double worth $88.10. The likeable rider would then come back in the afternoon's 7th with Sharp Act @ 12-1 to complete the hat trick.  
Other winners on the day were Lintlaw (Ismael Mosqueira), Ellsmere Island (Jorge Espitia), Take a Hit (Rico Walcott), Passion Red (Amie Pooli) and Rum Chaser (Shannon Beauregard).
Total handle $168,682.

Who's hot?

Rico Walcott leads all jockeys with 74 wins. Apprentice rider Amie Pooli sits in second with 32, and then Jorge Espitia 26, Ismael Mosqueira 23 and Nate Smith 19 complete the top five.
On the training side Greg Tracy leads all with 22 wins. Rod Cone has 20, with Robertino Diodoro at 19. Ron Grieves, Joan Petrowski and Dale Saunders all have 16 wins each.
For horses... Kingoftherockies has 5 wins, Beau Diablo has 4, Lynn's Foxie Lady, Count the Change and Chandler's Heart all have 3.
Bar None Ranches Ltd. have sent out 13 winners, in 2013, to lead in the owner category. Riversedge Racing Stables Ltd. have 12 wins, with brothers Curtis and Darrell Landry sending out 8 winners
