It’s not often that we end up with a carryover in the Pick 4 here at Northlands, so let’s have a look at the sequence as there should be more than $20k in new money into the pool.
Race 4 – 7:56pm MST
What do you do with SOLLIE GO NEE NEE? She was claimed for $17.5k last season, tried a stakes race and then worked her way back down the ladder. She debuted this season for $8k, where she finished 2nd without much of an excuse. SOLLIE GO NEE NEE is right back at the same level today, and seems to run best when she has a clear lead. With BOLD HUMOR in the race, it’s not likely that she will clear of that easily. BOLD HUMOR comes in off a win running through her last condition. The added half furlong shouldn’t be a problem, and it’s also great to see that she has posted a bullet work since that effort. MEETMEAT TIFFANYS racked up five wins last season, but hasn’t returned with the same fire in her eight year old year. She is a 14 time winner in her career, and is proven at the level – it’s tough to leave her off the ticket. CANDY ALLEY made a nice run in the lane to score for $5k last time out, but see her win rider to MEETMEAT. SNAZZY LADY picked up her second career win last time out, and this is a big jump to take on open claimers.
1. MEETMEAT TIFFANYS - 5. CANDY ALLEY - 4. SOLLIE GO NEE NEE
The race looks like it will run through FOUR GUNS A BLAZIN. Rico Walcott takes over in the saddle as he now finds his way to the bottom rung of the ladder. He ran for no price in his two starts as a two year old, and came back and ran a productive race in his three year old debut. He was well positioned throughout, but may have needed a race – and now can move forward. TARTAN DEED and KRIS’S KID both scratched out of a race a couple of weeks back when the track came up sloppy. TARTAN DEED has had a few chances, while ‘KID will be making his first trip to the post. GO CHUNKY MONKEY could be another to toss in on some deeper spread tickets.
4. FOUR GUNS A BLAZIN - 6. TARTAN DEED - 9. KRIS’S KID
AWESOME NUGGET is right back at the same level following a win, and looks like he will be tough right back. He has a good tactical style, and will give the rider plenty of options. SPEEDO CAT takes a drop down from open claimers back to the level of his last win. He also adds Lasix for the first time, and that may help him out combining with the drop in class. MAPLE LEAF RAG has been right there in his last few starts, and has a chance to improve in his second start off the bench. The problem with him may be there doesn’t look to be a ton of speed for him to try and run down. KISSINTHETHEATER looks like he wants more ground, even though he was the runner up last time out. ROMAN HUMOR makes his first start off the bench, and his prep works should fit at the level. It also has to be encouraging to see Walcott attracted to ride.
2. AWESOME NUGGET - 6. MAPLE LEAF RAG - 1. ROMAN HUMOR
With the first few races looking rather competitive, this could be the leg to lean on a single. SUPER SAVER GIRL is likely to be a short price in here, and as she should be with her resume. She ran a big 3rd in her debut at Turf Paradise, hitting the front in the lane before tiring slightly near the wire. She tried to come from further off the pace in her local debut but flattened out and had to settle for 4th as the ½ favorite. She may have bounced off of a big effort in her debut, and should be tough today. If you are looking for an alternative, SMART FIX could be one to have a look at. She closed from off the pace last time out behind Port Protection, whom also defeated SUPER SAVER GIRL. E BUNKER has a little more speed away from the gate, and could get a jump on SMART FIX.
5. SUPER SAVER GIRL - 7. E BUNKER - 8. SMART FIX
