The successful candidate will be an expert in the Flat Racing industry in Alberta to ensure the safety of the Exercise Rider and Jockey Program instructors, students, and horses when travelling from the Olds Agricultural Society barns to the racetrack. The Safety Officer will understand the temperament of the Thoroughbred race horse and respond proactively when required.
The Safety Officer must be licensed by Horse Racing Alberta and have at least 2 years of experience in the Flat Racing industry. Candidates may be requested to demonstrate physical and practical capabilities to fulfill the position requirements.
The Safety Officer will have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team. The successful candidate will be a team player who is responsible to the program Instructor /Coordinator and works cooperatively with the instructional staff and students.
Having graduated from the Olds College Racetrack Programs and/or having equine experience would be considered an asset(s).
