Saturday, November 2nd will showcase Alberta’s finest pacers at Northlands Park for the 2013 Alberta Super Finals. There will be over $380,000 in purse money up for grabs.


This day is by far the most sought-out prize for Alberta horseman each year. The Alberta Super Finals will have four $75,000 Finals and four $20,000 Consolations. The Finals consist of the top eight two-year-old fillies and the top eight two-year old colts and geldings along with the top eight three-year old fillies and the top eight three-year old colts and geldings. The horses that placed 9 through 16 in the standings will compete for the Consolations. There were three divisions of Alberta Sires Stakes held for two-year olds where points were awarded to the top five finishers in each division. The three-year olds also had three Alberta Sires Stakes eliminations and finals contested where the top five money earners in each earned top spots.

Trainer Rod Starkewski will be looking to have a lucrative day with his top three-year old filly Crackers Hot Shot. She is sitting at the top of the leader board going in to Saturday. Crackers Hot Shot will leave from post position two and will have regular pilot Bill Tainsh Jr. in the bike. Starkewski also has Blue Eyed Cowboy in the two-year old Colts and Geldings Super Final, Oh Yeah in the two-year old Colts and Geldings Consolation and RJs Diamond in the two-year old Filly’s Consolation.

Kelly Hoerdt will be sending out his troops with loaded guns. Hoerdt has a barn full of talented stars which include three-year old Champion Colt Premium Attaction, Emotions Run Wild and Barona Lilac in the three-year old Fillies Final. Hoerdt has Blue Star Escape in the two-year old Colts and Geldings Super Final along with My Boss in the two-year old Colts and Geldings Consolation.

Trainer Lance Ward will also be looking for a great day with his soldiers. Wards talented two-year colt Comes Home First will compete for the Super Final. Ward also has Donttelldaddy in the two-year old Colts and Geldings Consolation, River Blues in the three-year old Fillies Super Final and Fly On The Wall in the three-year Colts and Geldings Consolation.

Canadian Horse Hall of famer Keith Clark always shows up with loaded talent. In the two-year old Colts and Geldings Super Final Clark will send out a pair with both Cigar Party and Incognito Cowboy along with Get Thereovernight in the Consolation. Clark will send out another pair in the two-year old Fillies Super Final with Mystic Return and Make Three Wishes. In the two-year old Filly Consolation Clark has Jadens Wish competing.
