An accident on Sunday April 17th spoiled the afternoon card at Century Downs.

The accident occurred in race number eight. Unfortunately three drivers were hurt in the race.

We had the opportunity to catch up with Fred Gillis, Executive Director of the Alberta Standardbred Horse Association this morning.

“I spoke with all three of our drivers this morning. Ryan (Grundy) was in good spirits and was happy to report no broken bones in the face area. An MRI on his knee and shoulder came out good as well.

Brandon (Campbell) was fortunate to come out with some bruises and scrapes and was more concerned about his fellow drivers.

In speaking with Ashleigh (Hensley) the news wasn’t as good. Ed (Hensley) broke three ribs and punctured his lung. He was released from hospital at 4 a.m. and is resting. Ed is expected to make a full recovery in 4 to 6 weeks."

Wishes of a full recovery go out to everyone involved and condolences to the connections of Pass The Port.
