It's Father's Day weekend and this is a great opportunity to take Dad to the horse races, and if you are among the first 100 to show up Sunday your Dad will receive a special gift. As well there'll special draws.

"Of course we have our regular Friday night race card, with six quality races, the opening one being an eight-horse 220-yard dash for maidens," says Rocky Mountain Turf Club CEO Max Gibb. "Post time Friday is 6 p.m. while Saturday and Sunday the horses go to the starting gate at 1:15 p.m.

"Saturday we have a full nine-race card, including the All Canadian Open Derby (Division Two) with seven horses meeting in the 350-yard sprint, with an estimated $6,500 purse.

"The Division One All Canadian Open Derby will follow in the seventh race, over 350-yards with an $8,500 purse. This sprint sees some of our top trainers taking their horses to the starting gate, including three from Laurie Ferguson.  "Our eighth race is the $8,000 five and a half furlong Fillies and Mares Spring Sprint. There are eight horses in this race, involving many of our top trainers." The Fillies and Mares includes Majestic Lass, Porcelain, Up Your Plan and Smile Lee.

The Dick Aldoff Celebration of Life will wind up Saturday's nine-race card, with a full field of eight horses in memory of the former Exhibition Race Director.

Father's Day Sunday the first 100 fathers to show up will receive a special gift, with eight races on the card.

"One of the most colourful races Sunday will our second race, a Paint Stake over the distance of 300 yards," says Gibb. "We have seven Paints lined up for this $9,500 added dash, including Weaselhead, Jerseylicious, Autumns Dashing Moon, Bound Up and Kick Buttowski.

"Our seventh race is the 350-yard Old Timers Classic with an estimated $8,400 purse. This three year olds an upwards dash has two horses from William Leech, two for Laurie Ferguson and four other quality horses from some of our top trainers."
