This weekend sees a rapid wind-down of the Rocky Mountain Turf Club’s Fall Meet.

With only this weekend and next to go, this Friday’s race card gets underway at 6 p.m. Saturday’s card will have eight races and you’ll see another eight on Sunday, with post time both days set for 1:15 p.m.

For horsemen involved in the first two legs of the Starter Allowance, Sunday will prove to be a big day.

The mile and three sixteenths Third Leg of the Starter Allowance is all set to go, with a $5,900 added purse.

This endurance race is a fan favourite and will have everyone’s eyes glued to the track as the horses pass the grandstand three times.

There will also be two Memorial races on Sunday’s card.

The fourth race, over six furlongs, will be the Jessi Payne Memorial for three year old fillies and mares who have failed to win three races.

The fifth race is the Cancer Feature in Memory of Melanie Solberg, covering six furlongs.

The weekend is very important for the jockeys in contention for the leading rider of the Fall Meet.

Trevor Simpson leads the way with 19 wins while Larris Allen has 18.

Lyle Magnuson is the top trainer with 18 wins and is likely to remain unchallenged as his two closest rivals, William Leech and Pete Dubois, have seven wins apiece.
