  2. Employees and their immediate family of HRA, full timeracetrack personnel of Northlands Park or Stampede Park, or people employed full time, directly by the Alberta Standardbred Horse Association (ASHA), the Horsemen’s Benevolent & Protective Association (HBPA), or the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (CTHS) Alberta Division, ARE NOT ELIGIBLE for this scholarship program.
  3. You cannot apply for the HRA scholarship for backstretch workers and their children in the same year that you apply for this scholarship.
  4. You must be registered as a full time student in equine studies at either Olds College or Fairview College. If you as a student, for any reason, withdraw from the educational institution, the scholarship is terminated.
  5. You must provide a complete academic transcript for all high school and post secondary courses taken. These transcripts must be provided at the time of application.
  6. Your application must include a short essay explaining why you wish to receive an Equine Studies Scholarship, and what your goals will be following graduation.
  7. The maximum grant available is $2,000 per academic year. No applicant will be granted more than one annual scholarship from this program for the duration of the applicant’s post secondary studies.

Upon approval of your application, the funds will be paid directly to the educational institution on your behalf.

Up to three scholarships are awarded annually on the basis of meeting the outlined criteria, academic excellence, merit, financial need, and horse background and involvement.

The deadline for applications for the current academic year is September 30.

If you meet all of the above criteria, you are invited to submit your application to HRA. Please ensure that your application is fully and completely filled out to ensure a prompt response.
