The season is almost over and it’s been a busy one for the Backstretch Foundation. This is the last newsletter of the season. Thank you to all who have attended events and helped us this year.

Powder Puff Derby –
Congratulations to all the participants and organizers of the Powder Puff Derby. A grand total of over $17,000.00 was raised for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation! Thank you to the whole racing industry for coming together to support such an important cause that has affected many.
Condolences to the family and friends on the passing of Ivan Clark. Ivan and his wife Shirley were fixtures on the backstretch for many years. Ivan had a career as a Jockey and Trainer in Alberta since 1969.
Condolences go out to the family and friends on the passing of Dan "Kiwi" "Frenchie" Delcambre. Dan worked in the Harness and Flat racing industry in Alberta for numerous years.
Condolences to the family and friends on the passing of Larry Piche. Larry and his wife Greta have been long time Thoroughbred owners in Alberta.

The Backstretch Foundation thanks the supporters of our Alberta Fall Classic Benevolence Auction. With the help of contributions we raised approximately $2150.00. These funds will be put to great use helping our backstretch people that are an integral part of our industry.
Congratulations to the AB Breeders Fall Classic Day Pony costume winners – 1st place was Misty LaPierre, 2nd Kyia Moore, and 3rd Shayna Anisman. Thank you to all who participated! The crowd loved it!
Attention all parents of youngsters – Erika Amado has opened her own child development day home! Because of her husband Victor being a horseman, Erika knows the schedule and needs of parents at the racetrack. The day home is open to children 18 months to 5 years. They live just minutes from the track! For more info contact Erika at 780-452-1269.
Dental, eye, and hearing subsidies from HBPA are available. You must have held a HRA license for a minimum of 90 days to be eligible. Pick up forms from Theresa Sealy. Your applications must be in by October 11th.
