Red McKenzie knows how blessed he is to have spent 80 years at the racetrack surrounded by some truly outstanding horses. He remembers names, races, statistics and personality traits for a good number, and talks with genuine love about them all. With 300 wins as a jockey and over 1,600 wins as a trainer — including the Alberta Derby and Canadian Derby — he's achieved everything that most trainers dream about.

At the age of 90 he’s still at the barn to feed at 5:30 am. Why does he do it? “Because I love the horses.” Watch the $50,000 Chariot Chaser Stakes for 3 Year Old Fillies at Northlands Park on Friday, May 26!
