Prominent changes to the elimination guidelines for METHYLPREDNISOLONE

This memo is to inform the racing industry that the elimination guidelines for METHYLPREDNISOLONE will change effective January 1, 2016.

Specifically:
Methylprednisolone
single 100 mg intra-articular injection144
hours
(6 days)
Elimination guidelines for all other dosages will be removed
single 200 mg intra-articular injection336
hours
(14 days)

Note : Elimination from the horse of methylprednisolone can take an extended period of time. As such, owners and trainers should govern themselves accordingly.

The CPMA recommends that owners and trainers consult their own veterinarian for advice and guidance in the use of all drugs and medicaments.
