Nighttraintovegas Crowned Alberta’s Princess

Shining like a princess Nighttraintovegas delivers once again proving she has stepped up as a 3yr-old and worthy of her crowning of the 2013 Champion AB 2yr-old AB Filly by winning the $52,500 ABSS Alberta Princess Saturday, June 21st at Alberta Downs.

The daughter of Camystic and out of the dam Midnight In Vegas fought hard fending off a game Barona Mercedes at the wire to win in 1:55.4. The 1-9 heavy favorite Nighttraintovegas left from post one and settled into third off the gate behind the hard leaving Philly Collins and Barona Mercedes. But not waiting long Nighttraintovegas pulled after the first quarter and cleared easily to the front. At the half Nighttraintovegas pulled away with Barona Mercedes stuck to her back. The two fillies battled down the homestretch but it was Nighttraintovegas that prevailed by a head. Mothers Melody was a convincing third eight lengths back.

This was the third win for Nighttraintovegas this year and now boasts a bankroll of $95,822 for her trainer Rick Schneider and owners Dick Schneider of Sherwood Park and David Halmosi of Edmonton. The favorite paid an even 2.10 2.10 2.10 across the board. The 1-7 Exactor paid $$19.50 and the 1-7-5 Triactor paid $69.20.
