Blue Star Beauty Takes open

Blue Star Beauty stepped up with a huge effort to win the Mares Open on Saturday October 5 in 1:54.3. The talented daughter of As Promised now has 18 lifetime wins and earnings of $241,209. The 4yr-old is owned and trained by Doug Stout and driven by Gerry Hudon. She was bred by Bill Zaretzky of Saskatchewan.

Leaving from post five the 9-5 favorite blasted off the gate and was on top at the first quarter by two lengths hitting the teletimer in 27.1. She continued to control the pace having things her own way hitting the half in 58.2 and the three quarters in 1:27.2. Looking in control Blue Star Beauty cruised across the wire winning by a length and half over GTS Jerilyn (Campbell). GTS Jerilyn is owned and trained by G. Mcginn. As Seely Promised (Redwood) came up for third prize. Thats Witty and Crackers Hot Shot were fourth and fifth respectively. The winner paid $5.70 $3.90 $3.30. The Exactor 5-1 paid $48.80 and the Triactor 5-1-2 paid $156.00.

HUDON HITS TRIPLE

Gerry Hudon had a lucrative day at the office on Saturday with a driving triple starting in fourth race with Shes A Ladro and hit back to back wins in the eight and ninth with American Passion and Blue Star Beauty. Hudon trains and co-owns American Passion with Lynn Kowelevsky and Monica Hudon. The 3yr-old daughter of American Ideal-Falicia Hanover has seven lifetime wins and now boasts $35,022 in earnings for her owners. American Passion paid $9.10 $4.90 $3.10. Skade was second for trainer Kelly Hoerdt while Beach Baby took third money for trainer Harold Haining.

STAKES GALORE THIS WEEKEND

Alberta Sired 3yr-old Fillies will take the stage for the Alberta Marquis on Saturday October, 12 th at Alberta Downs. There are a total of 15 entries with two $10,000 eliminations being contested which include Crackers Hot Shot and Emotions Run Wild going head to head in the second elimination.

The glamour boys will go head to head on Sunday October 13 th in two eliminations of the Alberta Maverick for 3yr-old AB Sired Colts and Geldings. This is always a highly competitive group of talented horses.

The ASHA Stakes will also be showcased with the ASHA Fillies on Saturday, October 12 th and the ASHA Colts on Sunday October 13th.

ASHA is also pleased to announce that we will be remembering AS PROMISED on Saturday, November 16th at Northlands Park. A very special day at the races is being planned. Details will be announced soon .
