CRACKERS HOT SHOT TAKES HOME THE “DIAMOND”

Crackers Hot Shot claimed her second 2013 Alberta Sires Stakes victory this past Saturday afternoon at Alberta Downs by capturing the $53,600 Alberta Diamond Final in a new lifetime mark of 1:54.  Leaving the gate from post two the 2-5 favorite found a spot behind Emotions Run Wild (Hoerdt) and Blue Star West (Gray).  The fillies stayed in those positions until the final turn where the sprint was on between Emotions Run Wild, Barona Lilac and Crackers Hot Shot.  Crackers Hot Shot drove hard to the wire and scored to win by a head over Barona Lilac (second) and Emotions Run Wild (third).   Cenalta Fireworks rallied up for fourth and Blue Star West faded to fifth.

NO FEAR TOP OF HIS GAME

No Fear took his second $8500 Open Pace this year on Sunday at Alberta Downs.  The 4yr-old gelding out of No Pan Attended-Michelles Heart lit up the board in a new lifetime mark of 1:52.  With a scratch of Trust The Artist and the field down to just five horses No Fear (Campbell) took advantage in being patient off the gate and sat fourth for the first three quarters of the race.  Smooth Criminal (Tainsh) fired off the gate to set the pace putting up fractions of 27.3 -56.4 - 1:24.2.  Flak Jacket (Gray) took the pocket trip while Cowboy Caper (Hoerdt) slipped in to the three hole.  No Fear waited till the stretch to swing out and hunt down his foes winning by two lengths and posting his last quarter in 27 flat.  Flak Jacket stayed second and a fast closing Mr Saratoga was right there for third.   Smooth Criminal faltered to fourth and Cowboy Caper finished fifth.  The winner paid $9.80 $4.10 $2.70.
