"For a special this Father's Day weekend bring Dad out for a weekend at the races," says Rocky Mountain Turf Club CEO Max Gibb.
"There are special races for some special Dads and everyone can enjoy the satellite races - and if you wish the Vegas-style slots in Bullys will be open - and you all can enjoy a fine dinner as you watch the live races." Friday's card features two Quarter horse sprints, of 350 and 220 yards, the latter a super quick race, covering a very short distance.
"Saturday we have eight races, with the fifth race an $8,250 five and a half furlong Fillies and Mares Sprint. Lyle Magnuson and Les Adams both have a pair of horses in here and Stan Marks is in with Brahms Beauty.
Lyle, our leading trainer this Spring, has Hey Italian Lady and Up Your Plan while Les will take Porcelain and Mistress Bell to the gate. It's a short field, but a very competitive one." Father's Day Sunday features another eight-race card, including a seven furlong run, which is a good distance for this point in the Spring.
For those who love to wager on the favourites, then trainer Lyle Magnuson has to be one of your choices. Lyle has 12 wins thus far in the Spring meet. Sitting second is Rick Wiest with eight winners, while Stan Marks has seven and the Quarter horse queen Laurie Ferguson has six winners.
Last year's top rider, Larris Allen has booted home 16 winners and Blandford Stewart, coming off a red-hot Sunday, has 14 winners to date. RMTC newcomer Ramiro Sanchez Castillo has 13 wins and veteran Scott Sterr is moving up with nine.
