Week Eight Results from RMTC

Turf Club Boy, if ever a horse is well named this is the one.

Im Hott Ur Nott racked up her fifth win in her past five starts Sunday, winning the Rocky Mountain Turf Club's Oldtimers Classic.

The horse is owned by Ralph E. Danard and is trained by Laurie Ferguson, and ridden to perfection by Trevor Sampson.

The purse for this 350-yard run was $15,300 and was for three-year-olds and upwards. Im Hott Ur Not is by Tres Sels out of Wild California Rose by First Down Dash and bred in California.

The five-year-old lived up to his pre-race hype.

Ferguson had her ACTRA award winning horse Freshside bag another big one for her as seven- year-old mare took the $4,300 Fillies and Mares five furlong romps.

Bred in Arizona Freshside is by Top Hit out of Kichenthecat by Chanate Riley Rycroft, training his father Tom's Loen, won the fourth race, a five furlong affair, with Riley's favoured rider Jose Rocha aboard.

The RMTC's CEO, and commander of the Rocky Mountain Turf Club Stables, was once again pleased with his trainer Lyle Ferguson as he and rider Larris Allen brought home Tithing (a great name for a Sunday winner).

"Lyle's a great trainer for us. This horse is by Real West out of Clearance by Cryproclearance and I bred him at our ranch.

"This win sure caps of a great weekend of racing here at Whoop-Up Downs, not just for our stable but for the entire ACTRA and Quarter Horse community."  Talk about a ping pong match - the race for leading jockey for the Spring Meet seems to have no constants tied to it. During the first two days of this past weekend last year's leading rider, Larris Allen, picked up eight victories - and only one for Trevor Simpson. Larris now holds the lead  with 38 wins, leaving Trevor in second at 36.. After the pair you have Jose Roca with 24 wins.

Lyle Magnuson had a great weekend with seven wins to boost his wins to 27, with Riley Rycroft in second with 18.

One of the surprise winners this RMTC season saw Laurina Bugeaud riding Footloose Frankie, trained by Mike Bugeaud, for the win. It paid 10.00, 3.80 and 2.90.

Saturday, Valentino McBean guided Mitt home on top in the seventh race. The notoriety of the win was the fact it was the third win of the season for Harlan Birdrattler.

The Birdrattler family had been sending a lot of quality horses to the starting gate this Spring.

BEHIND THE STARTING GATE . . . The combination of Larris Allen and Lyle Magnuson seemed to send the pair into the winner's circle for their picture on a pretty steady basis . . . The weather was ideal for this second final weekend of racing . . . Stan Marks has given up walking around the paddock area an under the grandstand and is driving an electric cart, with a smile on his face . . . Don't forget the super day of racing and partying at Millarville July 1 . . . There'll be seven races with loads of concessions . . . The final weekend of the Spring Meet for the RMTC is set for this coming Saturday and Sunday, post time is 1:15 p.m.
